First Grade Reading: Part 1

Schools may already have these types of programs in place, which could be classroom exclusive or school-wide, or they may need to implement programs in schools with poor reading and language comprehension. There are a variety of reading program types that teachers can utilize to help children comprehend the lesson at hand.

An effective reading program should feature five critical areas of learning, according to the National Reading Panel Report. These five areas of learning include 1) phonemic awareness, 2) phonics, 3) fluency, 4) vocabulary and 5) comprehension.
